The idea

A place to do less, and notice more.

Out west, Curaçao slows down. The roads grow quieter, the hills roll on towards the sea and the salt flats of Jan Kok catch the last light of the day.

Vista Salina is being created for exactly that rhythm: unhurried mornings, long afternoons at the beach and evenings spent watching the sky turn from gold to rose over the salina. A place to arrive, exhale and stay a little longer than planned.

    Overlooking the salina of Jan Kok, a quiet salt flat where American flamingos wade through the shallows as the sun goes down.

    Banda Abou, Curaçao's rural west, trades traffic for trade winds. Expect birdsong in the morning and wide, starry skies at night.

    Porto Marie, Daaibooi and Cas Abao, some of the island's best-loved beaches, are only a short drive away.

  • The island

    Willemstad's colourful, UNESCO-listed waterfront, its restaurants and its culture are an easy drive along the island's west road.

Out west, the day ends slowly. The salina turns rose, the flamingos wade home and the sky does the rest.

Jan Kok, every evening

The location

Jan Kok, Curaçao's unhurried west.

Jan Kok lies in Banda Abou, the rural west of the island, close to the village of Sint Willibrordus. Its salina is one of the best places on Curaçao to see American flamingos, and the historic Landhuis Jan Kok, a plantation house dating from 1840, stands nearby. From here, the west-coast beaches and Willemstad's waterfront are all an easy drive.
